Good Guy Wins With Pepper Spray

Watsonville police say a clerk at the J&D Market on Riverside Drive managed to drive off two robbers about 9:50 a.m. Monday.

Police said one of the two ski-masked robbers pulled a black handgun and demanded money from the clerk after entering the market while his accomplice started to walk around the counter towards the clerk.

The clerk sprayed both suspects with pepper spray, police said, and the two men fled to a small white pickup truck parked in front of the store. They were last seen fleeing east on Riverside Drive.

No money or property was taken. The men are described as medium height, medium weight and wore black ski masks, black sweatshirts and jeans.
